Linking out to some of the more useful tools that I’ve come across for Dynasty Fantasy Football…and maybe some day build some of our own.

Dynasty Fantasy Football League Platforms

This will be worth of its own post at some point, but currently there seem to be three contenders:

MyFantasyLeague – The leader in the clubhouse for dynasty fantasy football, the great thing about MyFantasyLeague is that it’s the most flexible platform out there. The worst thing about MyFantasyLeague is that it’s the most flexible platform out there. It almost seems at times like it’s a platform written by engineers who never actually managed a fantasy football league–they broke it down into all of the components, and pieced it together how they think it made sense…but there are a lot of little things that just don’t. The app (which I believe is still unofficial) simplifies a lot of things about managing your team, but also has some drawbacks.

Sleeper – Designed more for your mobile device, Sleeper has a much slicker interface…but also some usability issues & a strange focus on trying to sell you on micro-transactions that add nothing to the game. It is free, though, which is nice.

FleaFlicker – To be honest I haven’t used FleaFlicker yet. But I know I’ve been seeing more people talk about them.

Trade Calculators

Don’t take trade calculators for gospel, but they can be an awesome way to get a sense of whether or not you’re in the ballpark when offering a trade, or if someone is trying to screw you in a deal.

Here are the two calculators we use the most right now:

Keep/Trade/Cut Trade Calculator – You will be asked to do an evaluation (keep one, trade one, cut one) to use the calculator, which is one of the great things about it–they update player values based on the results of user evaluations. You can also jump in and do random evaluations and see how your decisions stack up to the community. They recently added Superflex, which is great–but they also only use generalized draft picks (Early, Mid, Late) rather than actual position for the current year.

Dynasty101 Trade Calculator – Honestly, started using this one mainly because it was the first one that came up in Google when I was searching for an alternative to one that wanted me to pay a couple years back. I like that they have Superflex, and that they have actual draft slots–they also have a Trade Architect tool that allows you to build deals in a little bit different manner. The tool can be a bit spotty (especially on mobile) for player values showing up properly, and the values don’t seem to update quite as rapidly as Keep/Trade/Cut. They also don’t discount deals that offer 10 pennies for a dime–which is something we should all know anyway, but just something to think about.

Trade Database – It’s not really a calculator, but this website has a database with over 100,000 trades from MyFantasyLeague and Sleeper, and you can add your league(s) to the database as well. Lots of filtering options as well–so you can search for things like ‘trades where Aaron Rodgers was traded for a pick and a WR’.  Haven’t used it a lot, but sounds interesting.

League Dashboards

The Sticky Board – If you use MyFantasyLeague and have a lot of leagues, this could be a great tool for you. The interface isn’t that snazzy, but the functionality seems to be–I haven’t used it yet in season, but appears to show you where you haven’t submitted lineups yet, where you have trade offers (incoming and outgoing), and where your draft status is. They also have a Player Share tool, which is kind of an interesting thing to check out (my current clubhouse leaders? Kaden Smith and Mark Andrews, in 54% of my leagues).

MFL Dashboard – One of the many confounding things about MFL is that their home page doesn’t have any level of account integration to leagues you’re in, beyond your name and a link that basically takes you to your dashboard–just an extra click added to the process. So years ago I started making sure that I had the Dashboard bookmarked so I didn’t have to deal with seeing the stale content on their home page.

Statistics

Points Vs Defense – A tool to track how many points have been scored against a team’s defense by different position groups–I’m still looking for a tool that breaks it down a little further (WR2 vs WR1, etc).

Got any ideas for other resources we should check out?  Let us know!
